ISLAMABAD - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) delegation on Friday met Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss political situation, including the upcoming presidential elections. Prime Minister in his first formal meeting with its coalition partner (MQM-P) congratulated his cabinet members for assuming their duties.
The MQM delegation included Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Dr Farogh Naseem, Aminul Haq, Kanwar Naveed, Nasreen Jalil and Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar. Earlier, the Prime Minister had a separate meeting with Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and discussed in detail the problems being faced by common man.
Two MQM-P’s members, including Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Farogh Naseem, were given two important ministries. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has been appointed as Minister for Information Technology and Farogh Naseem as Minister for Law and Justice. The Prime Minister assured the MQM-P’s delegation that PTI government is committed to extend cooperation for the resolution of the problems being faced by the people of Karachi and Haiderabad.
PM Imran Khan said that he is cognizant of the problems faced by the people of Karachi. He said it was a matter of concern that some areas in Karachi lacked basic amenities of life. He also expressed the resolve to extend full cooperation to further improve law and order situation in the business hub of the country.
The Prime Minister said that Karachi was playing a key role in the stability and strength of the national economy and the PTI government was committed to improve law and order situation in the city and ensure provision of basic facilities to the people.
Governor Sindh expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him for an important position. Sources said that the meeting also discussed the presidential election scheduled to be held on September 4. The MQM-P’s member assured full support to the candidate of ruling party’s candidate Arif Alvi.
They also discussed the consensus candidate for bye-election on the seat of NA-243 (Karachi) won by Imran Khan. Prime Minister Imran Khan has vacated this seat and consensus candidate from both the parties (MQM-P and PTI) could be fielded from this constituency.
