The global coronavirus tally has now surpassed 217.6 million, while the worldwide death toll stands at over 4.5 million, according to the latest data from the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Centre.
The US is still the most-affected nation amid the pandemic, with over 39.1 million people infected, and a death toll of 640,089. It is followed by India, which has registered over 32.81 million cases and 438,560 deaths. Brazil rounds out the top three, with over 20.7 million cases and 580,413 fatalities.
Meanwhile, more than 5.27 billion vaccine doses have been administered worldwide.
