CDA directed to upkeep water filtration plants





ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been directed to immediately carry out the necessary maintenance of the water filtration plants and make all closed down plants of the city operational within 15 days to ensure provision of clean drinking water to the residents of the federal capital.
Chairman Prime Minister Task Force on CDA Fasial Sakhi Butt directed the civic body during a surprise inspection of the water filtration plants across the capital city here on Sunday.
He visited the water filtration plants in sector G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, and I-8 and expressed dissatisfaction on the maintenance and upkeeping the cleanliness of these plants and directed the concerned officials of the authority to rectify the situation. CDA is operating 37 filtration plants in different areas of Islamabad to provide clean drinking water to the residents.
The concerned officials would be taken to task failing to properly maintain the plants, ensuring cleanliness and replacement of the water filters and other necessary gadgets in time, as the government would never compromise on the heath of the citizens, he said.
He also directed to make arrangements for regular supply of water during the coming summer season in wake of the possible water shortage. The water tanker service should also be improved.
He said that regular monitoring of the water supply lines and leakages should be repaired to minimize the wastage of water.
He also directed to prepare a comprehensive plan to timely attend the public complaints regarding water supply.
