The recent hike in the prices of petroleum products and CNG was challenged on Monday in Lahore High Court (LHC).

Petition against the increase in the prices of petroleum products was filed by Azhar Siddique advocate while petition against hike in the prices of CNG was filed by CNG Association.

Azhar Siddique advocate took the plea matter was already pending hearing in the courts against hike in the prices of petroleum products and court had sought record regarding expenses and income in this regard. Increasing the prices of petroleum products when the matter was already subjudice was illegal and against article 8 of the constitution, he prayed.

The recent hike would create crisis like situation in the country and prices of all goods would go up, he said.

The petitioners have requested the court to take immediate notice of increase in the prices and declare them null and void.
