KARACHI – Karachi University has announced admissions to Mphil/PhD and MS (Surgery)/MD (Medicine) for session 2012. Admissions are open to various disciplines at the KU institutes and faculties.

In the Faculty of Science, the Department of Agriculture, Chemistry, Botany, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Food Science and Technology, Genetics, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Physiology, Statistics and Zoology are offering MPhil/PhD Programmes.

It will also be offered in Faculty of Arts including Arabic, Economics, Education, General History, International Relations, Islamic History, Mass Communication, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sindhi, Sociology, Social Work, Special Education and Urdu, in Faculty of Pharmacy - Pharmaceutics, in Faculty of Management and Administrative Science - Karachi University Business School and Public Administration.

In faculty of Islamic Studies – Islamic Learning, Quran and Sunnah, Usool-e-Deen and Islamic Studies, Faculty of Medicine - MS (Surgery) and MD (Medicine) and faculty of law offers PhD only.

The prospectus and Karachi University entrance test form can be downloaded from the website www.uok.edu.pk and complete application along with required documents and processing fee of Rs1,000 in form of pay order in favour of the KU can be submitted to the respective departments/centres/institutes from April 2-17. List of eligible candidates for Karachi University Entrance Test will be displayed on website and departmental notice board on April 23.

Eligible candidates for KU entrance test will be required to collect their admit cards from April 24 to May 5 from relevant departments/centres/institutes.

The KU entrance test will be held on May 6. The postgraduate admission committee is presided over by KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaisar. Prof Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi is the convener whereas the members include Deans of all the faculties and the Registrar.

Dr Aafia’s mother to undergo emergency operation:  Ismat Siddiqui, mother of detained Dr Aafia Siddiqui, will undergo an emergency operation for her broken hip bone.

According to a press note issued by Aafia Movement on Sunday, Dr Aafia’s mother suffering from paralysis, got her hip bone.

From her hospital bed, she expressed her gratitude to her well-wishers and prayed for the peace of the country especially in Karachi.

She also thanked the nation for its continuous support for the cause of release of Aafia.
