LAHORE – As many as 24 couples including one Christian tied knot at a mass marriage ceremony organised by Minhaj Welfare Foundation at its central secretariat in Model Town on Sunday. Every bride was given gift of necessary household stuff worth Rs 150,000 and a jewelry set as well. Marriage feast was also arranged for 1,500 guests.

Speaking as a chief guest of the ceremony, Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khan Khosa praised Dr Tahirul Qadri for his educational and social services. He said that Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto was a life member of Minhajul Quran and was greatly impressed by the vision of Dr Tahirul Qadri. He said that the founder of MQI was a real ambassador of the cause of peace and harmony. The mission of replacing hatreds with love that he had initiated distinguished him in the world. He said the resignation from the National Assembly tendered by Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri during the days of dictatorship of General Musharraf was a breath of fresh air, which gave new longevity to democratic forces in the country.

He said favoured a comprehensive,  Fatwa against mischief of terrorism, extremism and militancy.
