KARACHI - Former CEO BCCP Arif Ali Khan Abbasi has mourned the death of NKP Salve former president of BCCI and the first president of the Asian cricket Council.

Salve died in New Delhi on Sunday due to age-related illnesses. He was 91.

Abbasi recalled how he persuaded a reluctant Salve to accept the presidential chair of the newly-launched ACC. NKP Salve who was informed about the initiative of Pakistan to launch ACC was initially reluctant to accept the position, remembered Arif Ali Abbasi.

NKP Salve raised a number of objections on the draft of the constitution that was prepared by the BCCP legal team led by Wasim Sajjad who also accompanied him to New Delhi.

He said he advised Wasim Sajjad to accept all the recommendations that Salve had suggested and make the document acceptable to other countries of the region like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

He said India getting the top position and accepting the idea was crucial to the success of the new body.
