CHENAB NAGAR - A teacher of the Government Primary School succumbed to injuries because of the police torture here on Sunday.

According to detail, teacher Abdul Qadoos was arrested by the police a few weeks back on the suspicion of murdering Ahmad Yousaf, a stamp paper seller, from his residence in Nusratabad.

The police during investigation allegedly subjected him to torture at Jhangar Glotran and left him at his relative’s house in deplorable condition. The deceased was admitted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injures.

DPO Rana Shehzad Akbar has ordered to register a case against the head of investigation team including Sub Inspector Shujjat Malhi.

The deceased was laid to rest in a local grave yard. All markets remained closed to mourn the tragic incident.

ANTI-DENGUE SEMINAR: The Government College held a seminar on the prevalence and precautions of dengue fever here.

On the occasion, Dengue Control Committee In-charge Prof Waqar Hussain delivered a comprehensive lecture on symptoms, treatment and precautionary measures to avoid dengue mosquitoes. He advised the students to take active part in educating masses about the urgency of the menace. He also highlighted the efforts of the Punjab government for prevention and control of dengue fever.

Prof Waqar stressed the importance of mobilizing community in order to create awareness of a mass level.
