President Asif Ali Zardari who is camped in Karachi has directed the Chief Minister and Interior Minister for strict action against those disturbing law and order situation in Karachi.

According to reports, the President gave the direction when Chief Minister Syed Qaim ali Shah and Interior Minister Rehman Malik him gave him a detailed briefing at Bilawal House here in Karachi on Monday about the law and order situation in Karachi and some parts of Lyari in particular.

They also informed the President about role of allies party in the city.

The President asked them to take strict action against those disturbing peace in the city including extortionists, target killers and other criminals. He said if any worker of the PPP  was found in such crime, he should be given exemplary punishment and no leniency should be shown to violators of law.

He said it was the duty of the government to provide security to the citizens and said he was disappointed over the incidents in the last three days.  He said he was personally monitoring the situation and told them that due to the activities of criminal elements, credibility of PPP has been tarnished.

"Lyari was the hub of PPP's vote bank and will always remain so and the government would restore peace there," the president remarked.

Moreover, President Zardari ordered the officials to address the issues of Lyari's people on an emergency basis.
