KARACHI\ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani have felicitated newly elected President of APNS Sarmad Ali, General Secretary Masood Hamid and all other officer-bearers of All Pakistan Newspapers Society.

In his felicitation message, the President expressed the hope that the newly elected Executive Committee would work hard for the betterment of the society and for the welfare of the journalists community addressing their issues and safeguarding their rights.

In his message, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani congratulated newly elected APNS President Sarmad Ali, General Secretary Masood Hamid and the Executive Committee of the APNS. Gilani said the government believes in independence and freedom of media and never imposed any restrictions on the media.

He said APNS is an important organisation for the promotion and protection of journalism.

He assured that the government will support APNS and to ensure all facilities to the journalists community. Gilani hoped that the newly elected office bearers of the APNS would work hard to address the issues of journalists community.

Meanwhile  Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker and Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly have congratulated Syed Sarmad Ali, Mehtab Khan, Ms Rameeza Majid Nizami and Masood Hamid on their election for slots of President, Senior Vice President, Vice President and General Secretary of the All Pakistan News Society (APNS), respectively.

In their separate congratulatory messages to Syed Sarmad Ali, Mehtab Khan, Ms Rameeza Nizami and other office-bearers of APNS, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker said that their election to the office of President, Senior Vice President and Vice President and Secretary General of the APNS was an evidence of trust and confidence of the members of the General Council of APNS reposed in them.

The Speaker and Deputy Speaker expressed the hope that newspapers and publication industry will progress under the guidance of new APNS leadership and would guide the government to improve governance and formulating policies in favour of people besides taking care of the welfare initiatives for the journalistic community.
