KARACHI - The Sindh government has failed to fulfil its promise made recently with the protesting nurses in Karachi.

Last week, Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed had assured the nurses, who were demanding increments, promotions and increase in allowances that their demands would be met and a notification in this connection would be issued by March 31.

However, the assurance has not been fulfilled despite the passage of the given deadline.

The paramedical staff at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and National Institute of Child Health (NICH) has strongly criticized the provincial government for not fulfilling its promise.

Nurses complained that instead of meeting their demands they were being threatened of severe consequences.

Sources said that provincial health minister while giving assurance of meeting their demands also hurled threats of transferring female paramedics to interior of Sindh besides ill-treatment.
