LAHORE – The newly-appointed Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Aftab Sultan took over the charge of his office on Monday.

On his arrival at the Central Police Office (CPO), Additional-IG Punjab Khan Baig, Additional-IG Sohail Ahmed Khan, DIG (Headquarters) Muhammad Tahir and other senior police officers presented a warm welcome to the IGP. On this occasion, an active police squad presented Guard f Honour to the IGP.  Soon after taking over the charge of his new office, the IGP presided over a high-level meeting at the CPO. Additional-IG Punjab Khan Baig, Additional-IG Traffic Kalb-e-Abbas, Additional-IG (Welfare and Finance) Sarmad Saeed, Additional-IG (Training) Mubarak Ali Athar, Additional-IG (PHP) Malik Khuda Bukhash Awan, Additional-IG (Investigations) Punjab Naseem-ul-Zaman, DIG (Headquarters) Muhammad Tahir, DIG (Establishment) Amjad Javed Saleemi, DIG (PHP) Ali Amir Malik, DIG (Investigations) Punjab Abubakar Khuda Bukhash, DIG (Training) Muhammad Abid Qadri, CCPO Lahore Muhammad Amlish, DIG (Operations) Lahore Muhammad Tahir Rai, and DIG (Investigations) Chaudhry Shafique Gujjar were also present on this occasion besides other officers. All the officers briefed the IGP about sections and fields.

Addressing the meeting, the Punjab IGP hoped that all the officers would give top priority to merit and discipline while discharging their professional duties. The provincial police chief also underlined that all the officers would provide him full cooperation so that he could accomplish the professional responsibilities, assigned to him, in a better way.

Emergency operations reviewed:  The Director General of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer on Monday reviewed the performance of emergency operations in all districts of the Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the Service.

While chairing a meeting, the DG said that road traffic accidents and medical emergencies have increased up to an alarming stage. He asserted that the motorcyclists should never indulge in dangerous act of wheelie, over speeding, careless driving and usage of mobile phone while driving, as these are the common causes of traffic accidents.
