TOBA TEK SINGH - Former federal information minister and PTI central leader Khalid Ahmad Kharal announced quitting the PTI and joining PML-N here on Monday.

Addressing a press conference at Kamalia, he stated that the PTI leadership was appeared nonchalant about awarding tickets to real candidates.

Kharal said that he had applied for ticket from his old constituency NA-94 but knowing that the PTI leadership had delayed the decision that's why he refrained from submitting nomination papers. He announced that he and his son Haider Khan Kharal (defeated in 2008 election as PPP ticket holder from NA-94) would not contest the 2013 general election. Kharal said that he was joining the PML-N unconditionally and announced supporting the party candidate Chaudhry Asadur Rehman from NA-94 Kamalia.

Earlier, the PML-N had proposed Mian Nawaz Sharif's name as a candidate from NA-94 but later the decision was changed and former federal minister and PML-N ticket holder Ch Asadur Rehman filed his papers.

Meanwhile, Chaudhry Asadur Rehman's nephew and legal advisor to Sharif brothers Mustafa Ramday welcomed the decision and said that his meeting with Kharal had already been held before his announcement.

Other prominent candidates who filed papers in the district include: former MNA Ch Amjad Ali Warraich, who filed his papers for two NA seats 92 and 93 while PPP's ticket holders Neelum Jabbar and Begum Sarwar Khalid Malik filed their nomination papers for NA-93 and PP-85 (Gojra) respectively.
