ISLAMABAD - Mohsin Ali and Afzal Javed clinched the 1st Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) Double Wicket Tapeball Cricket Tournament held by Islamabad Sports Welfare Association (ISWA) at Diamond cricket ground. Former MNA Mian Aslam was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony while ISWA president Syed Sharafat Hussain Bokhari, secretary Rana Tanveer, Sheikh Abdul Waheed, ex-vice chairman FPCCI Nasir Mehmood Ch, member executive body ICCI Malik Naveed along with a respectable size of journalists and crowd was also present on the occasion. PCB governing body member Shakil Shakih was the chief guest at prize distribution ceremony. Mohsin and Afzal beat Yasir and Habib Shah in the grueling final, which went to the super over as both the teams finished on 35 runs each in two 2 overs match. Yasir and Habib, batting first, managed to post 35 runs. In reply, Mohsin were almost at the brink as they managed to score just 11 runs in the first over. In the next over, Mohsin hit four sixes in five balls and they were almost certain to clinch the final as they need only one run on the final ball but Mohsin missed the ball and the match went into the super over. Yasir hit the first ball of Afzal out of the park for a huge six, thus putting pressure on the bowler, but Afzal kept his nerves and managed to clean bowled Yasir thrice, thus Mohsin and Afzal required just one run for victory. Mohsin hit the first ball for a six and won the match in super over. Chief guest Shakil Shaikh gave away winning trophy and cash prize of Rs 2,000 to Mohsin and Afzal, Rs 1000 to runners-up while third position trophies to Shakir and Sammar.
