HAFIZABAD - Three women in village Herdo Ratta attempted self-immolation by sprinkling petrol on their bodies in protest against the Pindi Bhattian TMA staff and Kassesay Police which raided the village to remove the wall of their house here on Tuesday.

According to Rai Hassan Ali, the TMA staff and Kassesay Police along with machinery raided the village to remove the wall of his house built on ‘Shamlat-e-Deh’ (joint property of the village). Thereupon, his family members and other villagers started protest against the “raiders” alleging that they were being victimized by the politicians against whom they had cast votes in the last general election. On this the TMA Staff requested the police to arrest six leading demonstrators. Suddenly womenfolk also rushed to the spot and three women Muzammal Bibi, Kubra Bibi and Fazeelat Bibi sprinkled petrol on them to commit suicide. However, some villagers put off the fire to save the protesting ladies.

HIRING OF 322 EDUCATORS COMPLETED: The Education Department Hafizabad has completed recruitment of 322 male and female Educators of different categories in the district to fill in the vacant posts, EDO Education Muhammad Ashraf Herl said here.

He has issued appointment letters to 30 educators of SSE grade-16 today and said that educators of other categories would be issued appointment letters shortly.

While distributing appointment letters, he advised the newly appointed educators to ensure improving the standard of education in their respective schools.

Traffic cop thrashed by drivers, transporters:   A traffic police ASI was mercilessly thrashed by drivers and transporters near General Bus Stand here Tuesday.

According to police source, ASI Arif Youhana was performing duty near to the Bus Stand and was fining drivers for blocking smooth flow of traffic and violating other traffic rules. Meanwhile, several drivers, conductors and transporters pounced upon him and badly thrashed him with fists and tore off his uniform. However, more cops rushed to the spot and saved him from the clutches of the attackers.

The aggrieved ASI reported the incident to the police but it have so far failed to register a case against the accused.
