At least 15 persons including five women and three minors were killed and 25 other injured in different incidents of violence, enmity and other mishaps over the past 24 hours.

According to details, I Hafizabad, six persons including two women were killed and 20 others including 10 women were injured in a dreadful collision between a van and trailer near Ghora Chowk Qila Sahib Singh on bypass road here Tuesday afternoon.

According to police source, a speeding wagon (LWC-2281), coming from Pindi Bhattian when reached bypass dashed against a rice-laden trailer, coming from the opposite direction. As result five persons including the van driver Sabir died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The van was badly smashed.

The Rescue 1122 squads rushed to the spot and shifted the injured and dead bodies to the DHQ Hospital. The dead included Awais, Ashraf, Abdul Majeed, Sabir and two unidentified women. The condition of injured including Naseem Bibi, Muhammad Yousaf and Ibrar Ahmad and three unidentified women is stated to be critical.

The police are investigating.

In Kot Radha Kishan, a woman killed her own three-month-old daughter after her husband refused to divorce her in Handal village in the remit of Kot Radha Kishan Police. Reportedly, Ishrat Bibi had contracted marriage with Muhammad Nafees three years ago. Soon after the marriage, the couple developed differences and Ishrat started demanding divorce but her husband refused. In the meanwhile she gave birth to a baby girl Nida. The other day she again demanded divorce from her husband but he refused. At which infuriated Ishrat allegedly killed her daughter by throwing her into a tube-well. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

Similarly, a woman and her minor daughter were killed in a road accident near Raja Jang. The police said that Nasir, his wife Parveen and a minor daughter were on the way on a motorcycle when a tractor-trolley hit them. As a result, Parveen and her minor daughter died while Nasir received serious injuries and was taken to local hospital from where he was referred to Lahore.

In Sheikhupura, two brothers drowned in Upper Chanab Canal near Khanpur. According to details, Adnan Masih and Irfan Masih purchased a new auto rickshaw and were on the way to their village across the canal bank. In the meanwhile, the rickshaw plunged into the canal due to speeding. Resultantly both the brothers drowned in the deep water. Search for their bodies was continued till filing of this story. Meanwhile, the rickshaw was pulled out from the canal. The Factory Area Police are looking into the matter.

In another incident, a man was killed while two other sustained bullet injuries in jubilation firing at henna ceremony in village Ayya Nagar in the limit of Ferozewala Police. Some of the participants of the ceremony resorted to jubilation firing. As a result, a 20-year-old youth namely Ayub sustained a stray bullet and died on the spot. While two others including Younis and Tayyab sustained bullet injuries. The Ferozewala Police have registered a case against Farman and Zaman.

In Gujranwala, a speeding tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle rickshaw as a result Manzooran Bibi, Riaz Ahmed, Dilawar, Muhammad Hussain and driver Ali Hassan sustained injuries. They were rushed to DHQ Hospital where Manzooran Bibi died. In another incident that occurred in Butranwali where Akbar committed suicide by taking poisonous pills.

In Arifwala, a woman committed suicide over a domestic dispute.

As per reports, the woman identified as Rahat Bano, wife of Maqbool, a resident of village 155/eb Arifwala swallowed poisonous liquid. She was referred to Sahiwal DHQ and later on shifted to Lahore Jinnah hospital where she died. The reason behind the incident is said to be domestic dispute.

The police have started investigation.
