ISLAMABAD: Federal drug inspectors on Tuesday raided two warehouses of Islamabad-based pharmaceutical companies for allegedly overcharging and sent explanation letters to the companies.

The raids were conducted on the directives of Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar at the warehouses of M/s Wilson's Pharmaceuticals, I-9, Islamabad, and M/s Scottmann Pharmaceuticals, I-10, Islamabad.

During the inspection, the companies were found overcharging the prices of few drugs. The federal inspector seized stocks of all those products, which the companies were selling on prices more than the fixed level.

As many as 12,223 bottles of cofcol syrup batch x-1543 and 2325 packs of tablet Metwil XR 500mg at Wilson pharma and 1998 and 2178 packs of capsule Nitroscot SR 2.6 mg and 6.4 mg respectively were ordered not to dispose of and some portion was seized for evidence.

Further legal action will be taken under the Drugs Act, 1976 and rules framed there under.–Staff Reporter
