PESHAWAR  - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah has directed the authorities concerned to take every possible step to ensure provision of modern and qualitative education opportunities to the talented students of Federal Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

He said that education was essential for progress and prosperity of the country.  He said that country could not be put on the road to progress without promoting education. He said that education was an effective weapon for overcoming problems and poverty.

He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting of department of education FATA regarding the provision of quality education opportunities to the talented students of FATA here at Governor's House on Tuesday. A detailed briefing was also given to the governor from the officials of FATA Secretariat. The governor was informed that 200 fully funded scholarships of Rs 192.125 million would be given to the talented and brilliant female and male students of FATA to complete their study in the best available education institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a phased programme.

He was informed that 50 scholarships would be awarded to FATA students to continue their study in the best education institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1st phase of the scholarship programme in this year.

The governor directed the relevant authorities of FATA Secretariat that all scholarships would be given to the brilliant male and female students purely on merit. He said the youth was a guarantee of the bright future of the country and all possible resources would be provided for equipping them with modern knowledge.

While referring to the ongoing programmes for capacity building of teachers, the governor desired to strengthen and develop the existing institutions to the optimum level and make sure that the teachers were fully qualified to deliver their teaching responsibilities. He also desired to ensure inspection visits on part of respective authorities to educational institutions at every level a regular feature of their working to ensure their efficiency.
