Lahore - Sawan Masih, a Christian man who was awarded death sentence for blasphemy, filed appeal in Lahore High Court against his conviction on Tuesday. A trial court convicted him over blasphemy in Joseph Colony last year.

Sawan said that investigation and prosecution of the case was not on merit while police registered the case 35 hours after the occurrence of incident. He said that the case was registered against him on malafide intentions.

The petitioner said that there was huge difference between content of the FIR and the story narrated by the complainant before ht trial court. The charges of blasphemy were fabricated against him by certain elements who wanted to occupy the property of Joseph Colony. He prayed the court to set aside the decision of the trial court as he was innocent.
