Strauss takes up Middlesex role

LONDON:-Former Middlesex and England captain Andrew Strauss has joined the county's executive board with immediate effect, the Lord's-based club announced Monday. The 37-year-old, who retired from all cricket in 2012, was one of England's most successful recent captains, leading the team to Ashes success at home in 2009 and in Australia in 2010/11. Strauss replaces Paul Downton, the former Middlesex and England wicket-keeper who resigned from the board following his appointment as the managing director of England Cricket.–AFP
