Teachers up against troubles

PESHAWAR - To put pressure on the provincial government for the acceptance of their demands, activists of All CT Teachers Association Tuesday stage a protest at Main Saddar Road outside the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday.
The protesters led by the Association President Bakht Afsar were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands and against the authorities concerned for bringing hurdles the implementation of the apex court verdict in this regard.
Talking to media at the occasion, the protesting teachers said that the apex court had given a decision in favour of the deprived teaching community, according to which a CT teacher would have to be promoted to grade 16, on completion of five years in service. They also lamented the provincial government for challenged the high court verdict in Supreme Court.
They asked the government to implement the court decision by withdrawing the case from Supreme Court and stop dragging teachers in the courts, who were struggling for their genuine rights.
They urged the government to stop political interference in education department and follow the policy of merit in all affairs.
