PESHAWAR -  The Peshawar Walk-in Clinic of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre has been shifted to its newly-built building. This marked the launch of first service to be operational at Peshawar hospital, said the hospital management. A large number of people were seen to avail this facility since its operations started at new place. It may be recalled the Peshawar walk-in clinic was established in 2006 in a rented facility keeping in view the high number of cancer patients from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to management, efforts to diagnose cancer at early stage, free walk-in clinics have been established in Karachi and Peshawar for initial screening of patients.

Due to the dearth of oncology clinical facilities, patients throughout Pakistan had to spend a lot of money to come to Lahore just for their initial assessment. These satellite clinics were part of hospital’s contribution to the community.
