SAHIWAL/ KASUR-Seven persons were killed and 16 others were seriously injured in traffic accidents occurred in Sahiwal and Kasur here the other day.
According to police, a van overturned near Yousufwala due to speeding. Van driver Saeedur Rehman, Khuda Bakhsh and an unidentified passenger were killed while seven others including Adad Bal (20), Javed Shah (35), Fatima (30), Razia (40) and Rasheeda (50) were injured and were shifted to Sahiwal Civil Hospital by Rescue 1122. All the passengers were on the way back home from the shrine of Hazrat Sultan Bahoo shrine, Jhang. In another incident that took place near Arifwala Chowk, two persons were killed while four others were injured in a car-bus collision.
The deceased had been identified as Hassan Mustafa, president Cloth Merchant Association Jalalpur Peer Wala, and his friend Intizar. The injured including Iftikhar Hussain, Abbas and two others were shifted to Sahiwal District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital by Rescue 1122. Police were investigating.
In KASUR, two persons were killed and five others were injured in two separate road accidents in Kasur city and suburbs.
According to police, motorcyclist Ramzan, resident of Wadana, was killed after being hit by a speeding car on Lahore-Kasur Road. His two sons - Shahid and Shehzad - sustained injuries in the accident and were rushed to hospital. Police arrested the car driver and registered a case against him.
In another incident, a youth namely Ali was killed in a car-qingqi collision occurred near Tibba Fateh Wala. Three passengers sustained injuries in the incident. The car sped away from the scene. Police registered a case and launched investigation.
