Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif said Joint Investigation Team’s ‘clever tricks’ against him have been exposed.

While talking to the media persons, today, outside the accountability court conducting corruption proceedings against him and his family, the former premier alleged that some people do not want the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to win in the upcoming general elections.

He said that the corruption cases against him are being managed with just one goal: “to punish Nawaz Sharif”.

“But God has His own plans,” he added and said that this is not the Senate election which can be stopped, “this is a storm of the people”.

He went on to say, “We did not boycott the case even though my heart told me to instead we are contesting it.”

Calling contesting the case “right decision”, the PML-N supremo said that “JIT’s lies and Panama bench’s decisions have been exposed during the proceedings”.

He also said that Wajid Zia has failed to disclose any corruption.

“The entire nation knows the truth now. The court gave its decision on Iqama and imaginary income,” he claimed further.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia had stated that there was no document to show that ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif was the owner or had remained owner of the Avenfield apartments at any point in time.

The statement was made as Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Harris began cross-examination of the National Accountability Bureau’s star witness in the Avenfield reference against the Sharif family.

Harris had asked Zia if there was any document proving that the Avenfield properties belonged to Nawaz to which Zia answered in the negative.
