KARACHI - Pakistans former Test captain Younus Khan will lead a star-studded Dollar East XI in the Bahria Town 26th Karachi Gymkhana T20 Ramazan festival which start here Wednesday with the inaugural match between Dollar East and Omer CC at organisers ground. Other known Pakistan players who will appear for Dollar East are Shahzaib Hasan, Hasan Raza, lanky pacer Shabbir Ahmed and Nomanullah. Some of the Pakistani players have been hired by rich teams for good money. Previously the Karachi Gymkhana had restricted the number of outsiders that could be included in the team but with the passage of time the condition was withdrawn and the teams now can hire as many players as they want. Except for couple of years when some minor controversies broke out related to umpiring and match fixing the last 25 editions of the championship had remained free from controversies. As the organizing committee of Gymkhana does not keep tight control over posting of umpires and give free hand to the umpires committee. Some umpires were nominated who allegedly gave decisions in favour of their teams. The winner of this event would get Rs 350,000 and the runners up Rs. 175,000. Atiq Siddiqui has been reappointed media coordinator for the event. He has successfully done the job for the last 10 years. The inaugural State Life Vital 5 CC T20 Ramzan cricket would be played at a cricket ground in Khayaban-e-Rahat. He appreciated the commitment of former Test pacer Jalaluddin and said he was impressed with the dedication of Jalaluddin in developing the game at grass root level. He said the pacer had done a wonderful job in creating a cricket academy for the budding cricketers at Pakistan Customs Complex. Jalaluddin thanked M Yahya and hoped that the competition would help in unearthing new and fresh talent. He said as many as 16 teams divided into four groups of four teams. There would be man of the match awards and other individual prizes ranging between Rs 2000 to 10,000 for the man of the match of the final.
