ISLAMABAD-The Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education has decided to allot two percent quota for the special persons in the Benazir Income Support Income Programme. Managing Director, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Zamurd Khan stated this while speaking at a press conference in connection with the International Day of Disabled Person that will commence on 3rd December. The initiative will help improving the plight of special persons and in this regard Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall has been submitted a request to the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and soon after it gets nod it will be implemented he further informed. He said ministry has embarked upon a new project under which a list of one thousand families having more than two special persons has been prepared. These special families will be given 25 thousand stipends per year and in future more families will get benefit from this programme.He said sports is a healthy activity and on the eve of International Day of Disabled Persons PBM has planned to conduct sports competition for special person and around five thousand participants across the country are expected to participate. In connection with the Disabled Day sports competition a cricket match will take place on 3rd November in Islamabad in which ten gold medals and ten silver medals will be convened to the winners. The Ministry of Social Welfare has also planning to form a national team of wheelchair dependant special persons, which will represent Pakistan on international level he further informed. The Ministry of Social Welfares and Special Education has started speedy rehabilitation process of the special person and in this regard new five mega projects have been chalked out aimed at facilitating special persons. Resolving issues of special person is government's priority and following international trends PBM has started providing material assistance as currently it is giving wheelchairs to the special person. He opined that instead of giving cash money this initiative is more helpful for special persons who need it and soon Kashmir region will also be covered by this campaign.
