KARACHI - The Sindh Olympic Association won praise for successfully hosting the week-long OCA Sports Administration Course which concluded here on Sunday with a certificate distribution ceremony at the KMC Kashmir Road complex. This is second time that the SOA requested and earned the favour of the POA for holding the course conducted by PA Malik and Mian Muhammad Rafi. Both are OCA qualified course conductor.As many as 25 invitees including eight women attended the course. At the end of the course a written test for the participants was conducted. Three participants were given top position on the basis of number earned in the test. Ayesha Qureshi (Netball) topped the merit list followed by Amber Sand of gymnastics and Engineer Tahir Khanzada of Sindh Squash Association surprisingly came third. Ms. Rehana Saif, EDO community development CDGK distributed certificates to those who attended the course. She appreciated SOA for efficiently hosting the course which she hoped would benefit those who attended it. They would have learnt a number of things about sports administration. She said holding courses in any field of life had always been useful and provided good knowledge to the attendees.She particularly mentioned the number of women attending the course and said it was a good step in the promotion of women sports organisers. She said the CDGK had laid special emphasis on the development of women sports in the city. The CDGK had created a number of women specific sports facilities to promote women sports and create interest among girls. She suggested for holding a sports administrators course exclusively for women and offered to fund the course if held. Mian Muhammad Rafi, the chief course conductor praised for the SOA and its secretary Ahmed Ali for holding the event in a well disciplined manner. He said he had conducted a number of courses across the country but the latest course held in Karachi was something extraordinary. Not only the holding of the event was high class but even the participants showed keen interest in learning.PA Malik, who was one of the two delegates sent by the POA to conduct the course, also attended the prize distribution ceremony.Earlier in his address, SOA secretary Ahmed Ali thanked POA for allotting the course second time to the SOA. He also thanked the two POA delegates for teaching the participants a number of good things about sports administration. He had special thanks for Ms Rehana Saif who he said had always been supportive for the promotion of sports. She and the CDGK had always supported local sports associations whenever they needed sports facilities. POA has spent around Rs. 0.4 million in holding the course. The prize distribution ceremony ended with a sumptuous dinner given in honor of the guests.
