KP to reinstate 4,000 employees

PESHAWAR - The federal government has agreed to issue funds to Khyber Pakht-unkhwa government for reinstatement of 4,000 govt employees who were dismissed by the previous governments. The federal government has informed the provincial government about the release of Rs1 billion after which the government of KP announced to reinstate these dismissed employees from January and the Establishment department has started preparing process for the purpose. These 4,000 government employees were ousted from their service in the past on different pretexts, however, during Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilanis recent visit to Peshawar the elected members of the provincial assembly from the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party demanded reinstatement of these employees. Taking note of PPP MPs request the Prime Minister directed the chief minister and chief secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for immediate steps to reinstate these employees, however, due to non-availability of funds the provincial govt refused the steps. A few months back, the treasury department has also refused to issue funds for paying the pending payments and fresh salaries of these dismissed government servants after which the plan was put at backburner. Now as the prime minister has issued directives for issuing fund to the provincial government the reinstatement would start from next month and they would be adjusted on vacant posts.
