Our Staff reporter KHANEWAL - Three police constables were killed while a head constable and a passerby sustained critical wounds when unidentified car-riders attacked a police mobile van here near Pull Rango, some 20-km away from Khanewal, Thursday evening. The attackers fled away from the scene. According to detail, four police personnel in a police mobile van KWK-2039 were waiting to receive the squad of honourable Justice Muhammad Qasim at Insaf filling station, near Pull Rango, about 20-km from Khanewal. Suddenly a 2oD car, having no number plate, arrived at the scene and four armed culprits came out the vehicle. The culprits let off a volley of gunshots at the police vehicle, targeting all the four policemen. Resultantly, driver constable Usman Ghani, a resident o Jahanian, constable Farooq and constable Allah Rukha died on the spot while head constable Malik Shabbir Hussain and a passerby identified as Khalid sustained critical wounds. The injured were rushed to Nishter Hospital Multan by Rescue 1122. Eye-witnesses told the media that all the four attackers were looked well trained and they killed the policeman very comfortably and without any fear. They said that later the culprits fled away towards Multan. Meanwhile, Khanewal DPO Muhammad Waqar Abbasi, Kabirwala DSP Mian Tanveer and DSP Javed along with a large number of police personnel reached the spot. The DPO told the media that it was really a sad incident and investigation had been launched into the incident from different angles to ferret out facts. He said that it was premature to say anything about the incident or term it a terrorists act. Moreover, it has been learnt that driver constable Usman Ghani was a resident of Chak 142/10R Jahanian and had contracted marriage recently. Another constable Allah Rakha is a resident of Chak 124/10R Jahanian, Constable Muhammad Farooq Santal 68/C resident of Chak 44/15-L and injured head constable Malik Shabbir Hussain is a resident of Colony No-3 Khanewal.
