Ex-MNA accused of backing land grabbers

OUR STAFF REPORTER TOBA TEK SINGH - Former MNA and PML-N Central Working Committee member M Hamza has accused a former Gojra MNA Chaudhry Amjad Warraich of backing land-grabber gang. In a press conference along with several men and women of a farmers family of a Gojras village Chak 279 JB Darapur on Wednesday, he stated that Master Shabbir Ahmad of said village had purchased farmland worth Rs8.5 million from its real owners but Amjad Warraich allegedly sent his men to occupy the same land after creating fake ownership documents in June. He said Ch Amjads men attacked and attempted to occupy the land but DPO himself reached the spot and arrested 12 of the accused persons from the scene. Hamza added that in the said case registered against Warraichs men, Master Shabbir, his son Shahid and nephew Riaz had come to Gojra to appear in the court on Tuesday and when they were on their way back, they were attacked by the same men who tortured publicly to all three and wounded them. The injured were admitted in Gojra Tehsel Headquarters Hospital in critical condition. He demanded Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to help the family to save them from former MNAs land grabbers gang. When contacted, a spokesman for Warraich group, Chaudhry Akbar Warraich claimed that Hamzas accusation was baseless and Amjad Warraich had no concern with land dispute between the two groups. Muharram contingency plan evolved: A comprehensive medication plan has been chalked out to meet emergencies during Muharram, said Sargodha DHQ Medical Superintendent Capt (r) Dr Ahmed Naeem Sheikh on Tuesday. He told media persons that a deputy medical superintendent (DMS), two medical officers and paramedical staff had been deployed at the DHQs emergency ward to offer round-the-clock services, while a remarkable quantity of live-saving drugs had also been provided. Sheikh further said that an ambulance with important medicines and other equipment and paramedical officials led by an MO would accompany each Muharram mourning procession, while officials of the Health Department would also remain present at the venue of every majlis. He said the emergency wards capacity would be increased to 30pc and services of doctors of nearest hospitals could also be acquired in emergency.
