Govt took bold steps against Nato attack

OUR STAFF REPORTER BAHAWALPUR - The government has taken appreciable and timely steps over the Nato forces strike in Pakistani territory as we will never compromise on national issues and we will safeguard our national interests with unity. This was remarked by PML-Q leader, Federal Senior Minister Ch Pervez Elahi in a press conference here Thursday at the residence of former provincial minister and district nazim, Ch Tariq Bashir Cheema. He said that the success of PML-Q candidate Ch Ehsanul Haq in the by-election of PP-275 (Yazman), was an eye opener for all particularly for the PML-N as this election had exposed the wrong policies and the poor performance of the Punjab government, which used all its energies and resources to grab this seat by all means. But the brave people of the constituency foiled the 'wrong designs of the Punjab government to win the bypoll by hook or by crook and media also helped a lot to unveil the rigging, he added. Former Punjab CM appreciated the people of Yazman over rejecting the PML-N and congratulating them over this success which, he said, was the ultimate result of Punjab governments anti-public and anti-South Punjab policies. He said that the provincial governments wrong policies badly affected the public life and development process in this area and all the funds were misused for baseless and useless schemes for personal interests. Ch Pervez Elahi claimed that there were around Rs100 billion in the Punjab treasury when he left the government as chief minister but now the Punjab was going in deficit which was the clear prove of the PML-N governments poor performance which had badly failed to deliver any good at any sector and their all policies were based only on victimisation or personal enjoyment. He made it clear that the PML-N heads had no interest in public welfare as they had given nothing so far to the people and only befooling the masses through hallow slogans for personal gains. Referring to a question, he said that he would fully back the public sentiments about Bahawalpur province. He said, We had not yet finalised the forthcoming general elections policy, though we were in the government but it would be decided later either we would contest elections with the PPP alliance or independently. Pervez Elahi also pointed out that Nawaz Sharif took the benefit of Benazir Bhuttos shahadat and at that time the PML-Q was in opposite benches, so it did not take any benefit from the PPP, adding, if anybody wanted to check out the PML-Qs performance, he should compare that with the whole tenure of the PML-N and decide who served the province and people better as our initiatives, development works, infrastructure and public welfare oriented projects were the clear reflection of our sincerity and the recent success in the bypoll of PP-275 was the result of it. He also condoled the death of the mother of Tariq Bashir Cheema and offered Fateha on the occasion.
