LAHORE Himayat-e-Islam College for Women, New Garden Town held a ceremony in connection with 134th birth anniversary of Allama Mohammad Iqbal here on Thursday. The event was presided over by Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam president Justice (r) Manzoor Hussain Sial while Justice (r) Nasira Javiad Iqbal was the chief guest on the occasion. The college Principal Prof Dr Nasreen Akhtar Raza, in her welcome address, paid rich tribute to Allama Iqbal. She said Iqbal was a permanent source of inspiration for the young generations. Justice (r) Nasira Javiad Iqbal while sharing her memories about the Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam said, she had a blood relation with the Anjuman. She said it was honour for her to address the students of the Anjuman run college. She said her father Mian Hameed-ud-Din served the Anjuman as a president for about 20 years while her father-in-law Allama Iqbal also remained president of the Anjuman. She also highlighted the role of Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam in Pakistan movement. She said Allama Iqbal had started his poetic work from the platform of Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam. Nasira stressed upon the girls to keep in mind the philosophy of Khudi of Allama Iqbal. She urged the students to complete their education and serve the country with spirit standing shoulder to shoulder with men. Justice (r) Manzoor Hussain Sial thanked the guests and said that he himself got education in the school of Anjuman Hamayat-e-Islam.
