ISLAMABAD - Pir Salahudin helped PTV edge out strong ZTBL 1-0 in the Pakistan Football League 2011 here at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Board ground on Thursday. ZTBL was the favourites to win this tie, but they failed and go down fighting against determined PTV side. ZTBL started the match on a very high pace and put the PTV defence under immense pressure from the beginning but the bankers forwards let them down by missing sitters. ZTBL first missed the chance in the 12th minute when their forward was all alone in front of the goal and he only needed to put the ball in to the empty net as PTV goalkeeper was well beaten but to the surprise of many the forward put the ball in to the side netting instead of goal. PTV started the second half positively and made some fine moves, through forward Pir Salahudin as he poses great threat to ZTBL defence. He could have given his side a much deserving lead in the 50th minute but the ZTBL goalie denied him with an acrobatic diving save. ZTBL missed another scoring opportunity in the 53rd minute when they were awarded a free kick right from the edge of circle, but the hit went outside of the goal post. And just when ZTBL were brimming in confidence were stunned by a superb solo goal from Pir Salahudin who first beat two defenders and then rounded the goalie to put the ball in to the ZTBL net. Despite several attempts and keeping the lime share of possession ZTBL remained unsuccessful to level the match and had to taste 1-0 hard fought defeat. In the second match played between Railways and HEC, the match ended in a 0-0 draw. The both sides play with too much cautious approach and it was looking eminent from their style of play they wanted to earn a point. None of the teams made any serious challenge towards each others goal and the match ended 0-0.
