KARACHI - Teenager Saadia Gul of Wapda proved her credentials as a new fast emerging star at womens national circuit when she ousted third seed Zoya Khalid in five gruelling games to enter the semi final of womens events of the DG Rangers Sindh national junior squash championships here on Thursday at DG Rangers Jahangir Khan squash complex. The youngster who hail from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fought back to hand over defeat on a superior opponent after a 43 minuets energy sapping battle. She won by 11-8, 3-11, 5-11 11-7, 12-10. Other seeds who bit dust in the quarter final of the event were top seed Saima Shaukat of Wapda who lost to Samar Anjum of Punjab 3-11, 9-11, 8-11. Fourth seed Roshana Mahboob of ZTBL however was the only seed was who won her match against Riffat Khan of Punjab 11-3, 11-8, 11-9. Faiza Zafar was the lone player from Sindh who clinched a place in the last four when she defeated Amna Lateef (Punjab) 5-11, 11-2, 11-4, 11-6. In the mens event second seed Waqas Mahboob of KPK and fourth seed Shahnawaz made their exit losing their quarter finals. Shaikh Saqib of Punjab beat Shahnawaz also from Punjab, Tayyab Aslam of Punjab had the better of Waqas Mahboob in a five game thriller.
