Our Staff reporter SARGODHA - Scores of sugarcane growers staged a protest against the sealing of Chishtia Sugar Mills at Farooka here the other night. The protestors shouted slogans and demanded the govt to de-seal the mill. As per detail, District administration sealed the Chishtia Sugar Mills for non-payment to the cultivators. But, the growers gathered in and outside the mill and protest against the decision of the government. They said that other sugar mills were also declared defaulters but these mills were running without any impediment but local administration took partial action and halted the crushing season. They said that in case of non-running of the said mill, their crop would be ruined and they might be faced loss of billions. On the other hand, Chishtia Sugar Mills Technical Director Qaiser Ansari told that the Punjab Cane Commissioner had already issued permission for running the mill but local administration suddenly came their with police and sealed off the mills without presenting any notice or written order. He alleged that they were being victimised politically which was clearly injustice with the workers of the mill as well as the growers of the area.
