KARACHI - As many as 13,306 bags of wheat worth Rs50 million have been nicked from official go-downs of the provincial government of Sindh, in the ongoing fiscal year.

Food Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dehar on Sunday formed a committee under the additional food secretary to look into the issue. The inquiry committee will come up with a report within a 15-day period.

The minister directed the food secretary to suspend two department officials, namely Saifuddin Bhatti and Ali Raza Buledi.  A Food Department inspection team had detected disappearance of 13,306 wheat bags, worth Rs57.9757 million, in official go-downs in Gari Khairo area of Jacobabad district. Dehar warned that no Food Department employee would be spared, if found involved in corruption or negligence of duties.
