LAHORE - PML-Q senior leader Ch Parvez Elahi has said that the government is introducing the 24th amendment to the constitution to save the Sharif rule in country.

In a statement yesterday, the former Punjab chief minister said the law and order turned worst in the province and people of the biggest province were feeling insecure.

Had the Rangers been allowed to operate in Punjab, the increasing crime rate would have been reduced, he said, adding that the police were just guarding the Sharif family.

He appreciated the workers of his party who were put in jails for holding protest against the government.

He said the amendment was an attempt to save Nawaz Sharif from action over Panama leaks.

He said the new law would undermine the authority of the apex court.

The 24th Constitution Amendment has recently been presented in the National Assembly.

The proposed amendment would give the right of appeal against suo motu cases and it is said to be against Article 184(3) of the Constitution that pertains to cases filed directly at the Supreme Court.

Pervaiz said Punjab government had sacrificed everything for their rule and earlier it had bartered away Punjab in the NFC Award.

He announced visiting Punjab cities for reorganisation of the party. Workers from Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Multan, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Layyah, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Toba Tek Singh Nankana Sahib and Sahiwal met Ch Pervaiz.
