MULTAN -  Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Secretary General Liaqat Baloch Thursday called for ruthless accountability of all those whose names surfaced in Panama Leaks, saying the Supreme Court should make a roadmap for their trial.

Addressing a news conference here at local JI office, he added that corrupt elements from both the government and opposition should be held accountable irrespective of their political affiliations. He alleged that the government attempted to make the situation more complex at a time when JI’s petition on Panama Leaks and accountability is being heard by the Supreme Court.

He rejected Sindh Assembly’s bill regarding ban on embracing Islam before the age of 18 and said that it was against Islam and constitution. “We strongly condemn this law. Religious parties will hold a meeting in Karachi on December 6, to devise policy on this important issue,” he declared. He further revealed that the Karachi moot would be followed by meetings in Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad on the same topic. He declared that Islamic laws would be protected.

He said that the change of command in Pakistan Army under law and constitution is a good Oman. He added that the country is faced with a serious threat from the border and the new Army Chief would face a tough challenge. He said that Gen Raheel Sharif boosted the honour of Pakistan Army by retiring on time and declining extension. He said that the outgoing Army Chief cleared the country of bad effects left behind the Ayub, Yahya, Zia and Musharraf regimes. He said that all institutions of the country should act under the law and use their powers in light of constitution.

He said that India is faced with serious crisis and its army seems helpless before the resolve expressed by the Kashmiris. He said that the martyrdom of Burhan Wani gave Kashmiris a new passion which encouraged other minorities in India to raise the flag of rebellion. He said that Modi disappointed his nation and he would prove Gorbachev for India.

He said that the alliance of India, Israel and the US has taken birth against Pakistan, alleging that America using India to harm Pakistan. He said that the only way to cope with this situation is to maintain national unity.

Referring to CPEC, he said that the project would prove a game-changer for the entire region. He added that it is not the project of any single party rather it is of all Pakistanis’ project. He said that it is the responsibility of the federal government to ensure distribution of resources among different units of federation judiciously.

He said that it was serious failure of the government that it failed to hold census and announce NFC award. He pointed out that the rulers utilised projects like Multan Metro for furthering their personal politics. He demanded the government to construct motorway between Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan as well as complete Ghazi Ghaat bridge at Mithan Kot.
