LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Health Management Information System is of paramount importance for ensuring provision of quality health facilities to the people.

He was addressing a meeting regarding briefing by Korean experts of healthcare sector in connection with Health Management Information System, here yesterday.

The chief minister said that due to this modern system, treatment of patients in the hospitals will be considerably improved. He said that programme of setting up of Health Management Information System in government hospitals will have to be forwarded speedily.

The chief minister directed to constitute a committee for furthering this programme and said that comprehensive recommendations should be presentenced at the earliest in this regard.

He said that a comprehensive programme is being implemented for provision of medical facilities to the people. He said that revolutionary steps are being taken for improvement of health sector and it is being harmonized with modern demands. He said that service to the ailing humanity is also a form of worship and through this spirit, we are moving speedily forward for improving medical sector.

The chief minister said that all out resources will be provided for serving the ailing humanity. He said that we have taken the responsibility of improvement of the hospitals and he is personally visiting hospitals in this regard not only to review provision of medical facilities in the hospitals but also take steps for removing the flaws immediately.

Shehbaz Sharif said that he will go to the last limit for providing best treatment facilities to the masses. He said that quality medical facilities are right of the people and it is obligation of the government to provide these facilities to the masses. He said that Health Management Information System is of vital importance for improving healthcare system which will bring better changes in the system and also save time of the patients.

The chief minister said that Punjab government has decided to set up Health Management System in Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute while a committee has been constituted for installing this system in other hospitals which will soon present its comprehensive recommendations.

He said that there is no shortage of resources but the situation demands only sense of responsibility. He said that best medical facilities can be provided to the people by utilizing resources in the best manner. He said that all will have to work jointly for obtaining desired results with regard to healthcare system.

The Korean experts gave a detailed briefing regarding Health Management Information System. Provincial Ministers Kh Salman Rafique, Kh Imran Nazir, Adviser Dr Umer Saif, Vice Chancellor KEMU concerned secretaries and senior officials were present on the occasion.
