Kandhkot - At least four houses of labourers were completely gutted due to short circuiting in village Golimar near Kandhkot bypass here on Thursday. Four houses of labourers belonging to Baghri community were burnt to ashes due to short circuiting in which stocks of grain, other items of daily use and other valuables were also burnt beyond recognition.

Owners of the houses, Golo Mal, Raja Ram, Ranjho and others told the media that fire had erupted due to short circuiting in Vikesh Kumar’s house which engulfed three other houses. “We could only manage to save our lives. However, all valuables and especially dowry of our daughters were completely gutted,” they informed.

They complained that the firefighters did not reach the spot, and they extinguished the blaze on their own. They demanded compensation from the district administration.

Meanwhile, a youth was killed while three others were critically injured in a road accident here on Thursday.

The accident took place in the limits of Gouspur police station near Chimini Stop.

Two speedy motorcycles coming from the opposite directions collided with each other. As a result, Aslam Bhayo, 25, resident of Tangwani Larro was killed on the spot while two others, including a woman, sustained serious injuries.

Later local police rushed to the spot and and shifted the injured to Tangwani Civil Hospital.

Kashmore police arrests 11 gamblers

Kandhkot- Kashmore Police claimed it had arrested 11 gamblers along with locally manufactured wine, cash and other valuables.

Shahid Hussain Mirani, Spokesman for Kashmore SSP, told the media that police, on a tip off, raided a gambling den in the jurisdiction of A Section near the toll plaza.

“As a result, 11 gamblers, Ali Sher Mirani, Haju Sabzoi, Riaz Sheikh, Eidan Mohmamdani, Pervez Malik, Jalal Ahmed, Pir Bux Sabzoi, Ranu, Ghulam Ali and others were picked up,” he explained. He further said that they were also consuming locally manufactured wine and hashish at the time of the raid.

He added that police also recovered Rs28,000, bottles of local wine, eight cell phones and other valuables from their possession. “FIRs have also been registered against them,” he concluded.
