SC acquits death row convict after 11 years

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday acquitted a death row and life imprisonment prisone after 11 years.

The life imprisonment prisoner was acquitted after spending 11 years in jail over benefit of doubt. The accused Muhammad Anaar was suspected of killing his beloved wife.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that the suspect spends his time in prison while no action is taken against a dishonest plaintiff. He said that the statements of witnesses are not trustworthy.

In another case, SC nullified the verdict of Lahore High Court (LHC) and released a kidnapping for ransom suspect Muhammad Shahid.

The judge said that police made up a fabricated story as the police was not informed of the abduction nor the hostage was recovered from the possession of the suspect.
