Lahore - Different functions and events are being held in connection with the 60th death anniversary of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan throughout the country.

To pay homage to Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, Justice (r) Khalil-ur-Rehman Khan and Justice Atir Mehmood in Lahore and Kasur respectively said that he was a great Independence Movement leader and an icon of journalism.

“He was the only personality who he gave tough time to the British Government and Hindu majority. He suffered irreparable monetary losses and got confiscated his sureties for his renowned newspaper “Zamindar” who also faced closure many a times. He sacrificed his whole life for the Independence.”

The Lahore function was also attended by Sh. Amjad Hussain, Masood Iqbal, SA Bokhari, Hafiz Khalid Mehmood, Tahir Butt, and Hafiz Manzoorul Haq.

At the mausoleum of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan at Karamabad, large number of people gathered to offer fateha. Wazirabad Assistant Commissioner Anwar Baryar laid wreath on the grave and prayed for the hero.

He enlightened the great and memorable services rendered by Zafar Ali Khan. In the adjacent ground of tomb, an exhibition was organized by the Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust wherein books based on Maulana’s services, poetry, personal life and historic pictures were shown to the general public.

In Kasur, after a festival match which was arranged by the local personalities, special prayers were offered where Mr Atir Mahmud was the Chief Guest .The chief organizer of the Cricket District and Sessions Judge Muzaffar Ali Shah led the Fateha Khawani large number of judges and members of the Kasur Bar participated in Dua Ceremony.

 Appreciating the services of Late Maulana, Sayed Muzaffar Shah said that Zafar Ali Khan was a stalwart, who suffered irreparable monetary losses for the Muslim of Subcontinent. He was a true Muslim and patriot. His services for the sake of independence and Muslims of Pakistan are an asset for the whole nation. Besides Justice Atir Mehmood, Muzaffar Ali Shah, Rafaqat Ali Gondal, Raja Asad Ali Khan, Ch. Munir Ahmad, Ayesha Rasheed Awan, Raheela Umar, Zahid Mehmood Ghazanvi, Shaukat Kamal Dar and Hamza Shah, prominent lawyers and Judges of the District were also present on the occasion.
