Sunflower plants help control smog

LAHORE:  Plantation of sunflower can help control smog as the plant has such characteristics in it which help overcome environmental pollution. A spokesman for the Punjab Agriculture Department said on Saturday that it was revealed due to a number of experiments, conducted by students of the Institute of Industrial and Biotechnology, Government College University Lahore. He said that sunflower plants have a tendency to absorb elements causing environmental pollution. He said this year the Punjab government was Rs 5,000 per acre subsidy to farmers who would cultivate sunflower.–APP

It would help the government cut the import bill amounting to Rs 3 billion spent for importing edible oil, he added. Sunflower crop gets prepared in 100 to 125 days; therefore, farmers could earn maximum profit from the crop in less time, he added.
