QUETTA - At least 16 people sustained injuries when a powerful bomb went off in Dera Murad Jamali on Sunday evening while gas pipelines were also blown up in Dera Bugti and Kishmore areas. According to reports reaching here, unknown people had fitted explosive device with a motorbike parked at Mazdoor Chowk which exploded with a big bang when a vehicle was passing near it. As a result, 16 people were injured including a 10-year-old child. The injured were rushed to the local hospital where some of them were identified as Yaseen, Nazir Ahmad, Hazoor Bakhsh, Haji Nazeer, Khuda Bakhsh, Ghulam Rasool, Abdullah, Rab Nawaz, Khamisa Khan and Imran. Talking to newsmen, DPO Naseerabad said 16 people were wounded in the blast, adding that the bomb was planted in a bike parked at Mazdoor Chowk. Sources said that the bomb was detonated through remote control and the apparent target was vehicle of security forces. He further said that vehicle of security forces damaged partially while two personnel of security forces were also injured. Motorbike was completely destroyed due to the blast while two other vehicles were also damaged. The windowpanes of nearby shops scattered after the blast. Soon after the blast, police and personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) rushed to crime scene and cordoned off the area. According to reports from Dera Bugti, a gas pipeline supplying gas from two separate wells to Sui Purification Plant in Loti area was blown up by unknown people. The explosive material planted under the pipeline supplying gas to the purification plant destroyed two-feet portion of an 8-inch diameter pipeline. Another report said that a pipeline of 30 inches diameter was blown up in Kishmore area. Official sources said repair work of the damaged pipelines had been started and gas supply to the purification plant would be restored after completion of repair work. Railway track was also blown up in Bolan area. According to reports, unknown persons had planted explosive device with a railway track which exploded with a big bang, causing damage to some portion of track. Police have registered cases against unknown men and started investigation. Meanwhile, spokesman of defunct Baloch Republican Army (BRA) Sarbaaz Baloch calling from unknown location claimed the responsibility of blowing up gas pipelines and blast in Dera Murad Jamali.
