RAWALPINDI - Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Association (PESA) while demanding immediate release of Nuclear Scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, has asked PPP-led government to restore superior judiciary including deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry without any further delay. PESA made these demands in a resolution presented in "Defence of Pakistan Conference" held at a local hotel here on Sunday. The holding of this conference was aimed at discussing the ongoing crisis in the wake of escalating Pak-India Tensions and Current Situation in Tribal Areas and also enhance a national consensus in this regard. The conference was presided by PESA President Admiral (retd) Fasih Bukhari and attended by former DG ISI General Hameed Gull, General (retd) Asad Durrani including PESA's other members, former ambassadors, leaders of various political parties of the country except PPP and ANP, religious parties, lawyer's leadership, renowned columnists and journalists and representatives of human rights organizations. The prominent among them were former COAS General (retd) Mirza Aslam Baig, Justice (retd) Saeeduzaman Siddiqui, Justice (retd) Wajihuddin, JI Pakistan Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmed, PML-N central Secretary Information Ahsan Iqbal and Khuwaja Asif and PML-Q General Secretary Mushahid Hussain Syed and LHCBA President Sardar Asmat Ullah Khan. PESA also demanded the government to halt American drone attacks on tribal belt, end of military operation in SWAT and adopt the dialogue process according to a resolution of Parliament, start the trial of former President General (retd) Musharraf under the Article-6 of the Constitution, unite the nation to tackle the internal threats, produce the missing persons and solve the Kashmir issue according to United Nation resolutions. The attendants of the conference passed the resolution unanimously. It was also announced that PESA would unconditionally participate in the lawyers' long march for the rule of law. It was also decided in the conference that PESA would constitute a committee, which would present its proposals to cut short the powers of one man, COAS, in Pakistan Army so that imperial forces could not get success in their nefarious designs. Former DG ISI General (r) Hameed Gull, while giving welcome address, urged the government to demand a time frame from America of pulling out its troops from Afghanistan, otherwise, the cooperation with America should be ended, he added. He said that the authorities of the heads of the Armed forces of promote the juniors or allotment of the lands should be curtailed. He said that strengthening of the inter services cooperation is the need of the hour and added that government should avoid taking dictation from America as it is a threat for country's integrity. Hameed was of view that the unrest of FATA and SWAT could be eliminated through dialogue. He said that America considered Jihad a grate peril for its sovereignty. General (r) Asad Durrani said that the government should review its internal and foreign policies to make the country's defence undefeatable. H said that the government should empower the Parliament and demanded US to hound out its troops from Afghanistan. Ameer JI Pakistan Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that the Generals should look into their own collars that what they had done with the nation and questioned them whither they are ready to give back the facilities that they enjoyed during their service? PML-Q Mushahid Hussain urged the government for a truce to counter the threats to country's integrity. He said that contrary to his statements, Barack Hussain Obama is sending more troops in Afghanistan, which is harmful for peace of the region. The representatives of government should have participated in the conference, said former COAS General (retd) Mirza Aslam Baig in addition with PESA should send a massage to the government that the association wanted to establish government's writ in FATA and SWAT. PTI Secretary Information Engineer Iftikhar said that restoration of judiciary including fired CJP Iftikhar M Ch is must for the survival of Pakistan. He said that PTI would fully participate in lawyers' long march. The sovereignty of the country is in danger and the need of an independent supreme judiciary is significant to combat this hazard, stated Justice (retd) Saeeduzaman Siddique. He said that founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam had bounded the Army to respect civil government. Justice (retd) Wajihuddin said that those who always conquered the country thorough military operation should be impeached. He said that the judges of apex court would be appointed through the Parliament. The other speakers of conference vehemently underlined the need to adopt comprehensive strategy and forge unanimity to steer the country out of crises faced with and to confuse the nefarious design of anti elements against Pakistan.
