The second round of secret talks between Afghan government and its opponent was held in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia's intelligence chief Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Afghanistan's former envoy to Pakistan Mulla Abdul Salam Zaeef are playing key role in the talks. Prince Muqrin had visited Islamabad and Kabul in the second week of January and met with Maulana Fazul Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmad, leaders having reach to Taliban and Hikmatyar. Last September, some Taliban members met Afghan and Pakistani personalities during a dinner hosted by the Saudi king, but there were no visible results from the meeting.
