LAHORE - Under the supervision of Data Ganj Bukhsh Town (DGBT) Administrator Saira Omer, DGBT Town Municipal Officer (TMO) Muhammad Arif along with Town Officer (P&C) Qamar Islam and a building squad demolished four illegal structures and sealed 10 unlawfully constructed buildings during this week.

The officials also lodged two FIRs against owners of illegally constructed buildings. The buildings which were demolished include three structures situated at Mall Mansion and the other one at Hall Road.

Furthermore, 10 sealed buildings include Raza Plaza Hall Road, Out Fall Road, Madina Plaza Band Road, Kausar Market Islampura, Chiragh Street McLeod Road, Abid Market, Sanda, Sagian Taj Company, Brandreth Road, Kacha Lawrence Road and Shamshad Market. Besides this, map fees worth lacs of rupees were deposited in national exchequer as well.

Also, following the direction of District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal, the price control magistrates on Wednesday conducted 269 inspections of different shops to check the prices of different edibles.

They challaned 66 shopkeepers over price hike and hoarding and imposed Rs 43,300 fine and got registered 7 cases as well.

Meanwhile, staff of the Town Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority carried out operation against illegal constructions at three different places in the city on Friday and demolished a total of 15 structures which had been built at these places in violation of building bye-laws.

During the operation in Sabazar, the LDA staff demolished six shops at plot No 139 of Block J, three shops at plot adjacent to mosque in mosque area of E block and another two shops at property No 740 of Block P Sabzazar.

Construction work was also stopped at 335 Block F of Sabazazar where addition /alteration were in progress without getting the plan approved by LDA.

The LDA staff also demolished illegal commercial construction on plot No. 905 of B Block Faisal Town besides demolishing three illegal shops on plot No. 172 of Board of Revenue Scheme.

Additional Director General (Housing) Lahore Development Authority  Muhammad Usman has ordered transfer of Ghulam Abbas, Assistant Director (General Cadre) working in Directorate of Enforcement, and posted him as Assistant Director in Directorate of Record Management, LDA.

Separately, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal visited different examination centers, established for 5th class exams under the Punjab Examination Commission, on Friday morning.

He also suspended examination center Superintendent Liaqat Ali Kharal over poor arrangements at center. Mengal inspected the examination centers of Govt Central Model High School Rattigan Road, Saleem Model School and Muslim Model School.

He also directed the EDO (Education) to issue notices to the administration of private schools over not participating in 5th class examination.
