LAHORE – A student of a local university along with her accomplice was arrested for kidnapping a six-year-old boy to extort ransom worth millions of rupees from a well-off family, police said on Friday.

The accused, identified as Aqsa Bibi, said to the student of MBA at a local university, and her accomplice, Akhtar, had abducted six-year-old Noor Skindar from Lala Musa area and took him to Lahore. Police said the parents of the boy are Norwegian. “We have recovered the boy after a successful raid in the Johar Town area. The kidnappers were demanding Rs10 million as ransom for the safe release of the boy” a police spokesperson quoted the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala.

According to RPO Muhammad Amin Wains, the accused had kidnapped the boy when he had left his house for tuition. The kidnappers took the boy to Lahore, contacted the family by phone and demanded Rs10 million as ransom.

The police launched the investigations as the Norway-based family disclosed the happening to them. Police also said the accused persons were familiar with the boy since they were his neighbours as well. Following the successful operation, the police handed over the boy to the family safely. Further investigations are underway.
