ISLAMABAD  – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of 475 cases whereas 375 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday 26th January 2013 to Friday 01st February 2013.

The backlog remains 19362. The backlog in the apex Court on 26th January 2013 was 19462 cases. As 375 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday 26th January 2013 to Friday 01st February 2013, the progressive total of pending cases as on 01st February 2013 came to 19837 cases. Out of these, 475 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday 28th January 2013 to Friday 01st February 2013. The backlog on 01st February 2013 remains 19362 cases.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry constituted various Benches at the principal seat, Islamabad and branch registries to expedite the case hearings and clear the backlog.

Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Judges of Supreme Court remained committed to accelerate disposal of the cases and diminish the backlog.

The Hon’ble Judges continued to hear the case in various benches with the aim to minimize the backlog and provide relief to the litigants.
