Sit-in against proposed new province

BAHAWALNAGAR - Scores of people from all walks of life staged a sit-in at Bahawli Chowk here to vent off anger against the formation of proposed 'Bahawalpur Janoobi Punjab province and express support for the restoration of Bahawalpur province.  According to details, a large number of people including lawyers, traders, politician, journalists, members of the civil society and labour unions marched through the city roads against the proposed BJP province. They reached Bahawli Chowk where they staged a sit-in to press their demand for restoration of Bahawalpur province. Due to the sit-in, vehicular traffic on Haroonabad and Chishtian roads remained at halt for an hour. Later sit-in turned into a protest meeting which was addressed by District Bar Association President Masood Rasheed Joya, MPA Samina Naveed, Ex-Nazim Fazal Din, Hafiz Asif, Traders Association President Sheikh Anwar, Shahid Nazar, Tahir Shah etc. They said that the restoration of Bahawalpur province was inevitable as It was the legitimate right the people of the region.  They claimed that conspiracies were being hatched against the restoration of Bahawalpur province but all such plots would be foiled. They also criticised the Punjab Governor Punjab, saying that he sold out his stance for governorship.
